Spyderco’s iconic Police model was developed in the 1980’s in response to demand from law enforcement officers for a slim, easy-to-carry folder that offered serious cutting performance.  An instant classic, it is still one of our most popular designs, with literally thousands in daily service around the globe.

The original Police model features solid stainless steel handles with a handsome satin finish and chamfered edges for maximum comfort during use.  Available with your choice of a plain, SpyderEdge, or combination edge, its blade is hollow-ground from VG-10 stainless steel and features a classic swedge at the point.  New for 2013, it now has a four-position hourglass clip that supports fully ambidextrous left- and right-side, tip-up or tip-down carry.

And the Police 3 G-10

Overall Length 9.91" (252 mm) Blade Length 4.35" (110 mm) Steel VG-10
Closed Length 5.56" (141 mm) Edge Length 3.95" (100 mm) Weight 4.9 oz (139 g)
Blade Thickness 0.118" (3 mm) Handle G-10

Since its introduction, new handle materials like G-10 have become available in the cutlery industry., and requests for a G-10 handled Police Model poured in. We accommodated, and re-engineered with a finger choil, a full flat ground blade, and released the Police 3.

The benefits of G-10 as a handle material are many. It can support a building, be drilled and sawed. It's doesn't retain heat or cold, shuns chemicals, discoloration and peeling. Two finger indents in the handle position the gripping hand for maximum control. The C07G blade is flat-ground VG-10: a high carbon, cobalt enhanced steel that sharpens-up easily and retains its edge. Mid-positioned backlock features a David Boye Dent for added lock security. A 4-way clip positions the folder to carry tip-up/tip-down and left- or right-handed.
